Directions for Captioning Videos Uploaded to Google Drive
1. Open a simple text editor (on PCs, Notepad or Wordpad; on Macs, Text Edit).
2. Type out a transcription of your video, or the parts you want included in the caption. Hit enter and make each new sentence a new line. (This takes the longest, but is fairly simple. Just a lot of typing!)
3. Save the plain text file with .srt in its name for a new file extension.
4. Go to your video in your drive, right click and select "Manage Caption Tracks."
5. In the new window, click on "Add New Tracks" and upload the .srt file. You can name the track, or just select English and it will name it as the language.
6. Once uploaded, it will take a few minutes to process and apply to the video. Then you can open the video and click on the CC button in the bottom right hand corner of the video to turn the captions on or off. A red line will appear below the CC when captions are on.
